Get to know your Assistance League President Millie Burg

Assistance League of Fresno’s President, Millie Burg, grew up in Chicago, Illinois. She relocated in 1974 to the San Francisco area and then in 1994 to Clovis where she currently lives. Her education includes a degree in Organic Chemistry, Masters in Educational Psychology and also Administration. Her career in education had her teaching at the elementary level, middle school and high school. Following her classroom experiences she began a new phase as Principal and then a member of the Administrative Team.

Her greatest joy is her family, 4 children, (now of course adults) two boys and two girls. They are all college graduates and in different fields. During their childhood days, Millie was active in many capacities, including the PTA, Den-mother (Cub Scouts), and Girl Scout Leader.

Along with school activities she also found time to be involved in her Church as a Parish Organist, and Parish Leader for a Renew program. The homeowners association in 1976 elected her as their president which she served until relocating in 1994.

Her academic career continued as a curriculum consultant for two major publishing companies. She went on to coach faculties across the country in areas of instruction improvement.

Millie has been a member of Assistance League since 2013. While she is not a long time member her enthusiasm to serve the community is very evident. She served as Public Relations Chair and has been involved in other committees. Her hobbies include, bowling, knitting, reading, playing the piano and traveling.

She considers her role as President to be an honor and looks forward to the many ways of being involved in the community with so many caring folks. Her personal mantra has always been “What we give unto the lives of others, comes back unto our own.”
