Operation Shoe Box was a resounding success in 2007! The Strategic Planning Committee previously decided that this project was a wonderful way to provide elderly “shut-ins” a nice gift box at Christmas time. The Fresno/Madera Agency of Aging provided a list of authorized items to be included in the shoe boxes. Assistance League members used their unique imagination and talents to make each and every gift box heartfelt and special.
We would like to express a special big “Thank You” to all of our generous Assistance League members who participated; the Assisteens® auxiliary; and Mrs. McLean’s Leadership Class at Kastner Elementary School. Also, our heartfelt gratitude goes to the Gottschalks Corporation who provided generous gift items to compliment the Shoe Boxes.
Operation Shoe Box was a very worthwhile project that provided useful and special personal items to 260 elderly “shut-ins” during the holiday season. We are sure it also provided a small measure of happiness!
